I finally made an update ^^
this has been requested a lot of times for so long, and I havn’t had the chance to make it + I often get small new things in the mail that I’ve ordered online, and I was trying to get everything in the video… even though I didn’t quite succed at that point, I’m still waiting for a few things….

I really tried to make a live recorded video, but I didn’t want to just ramble off prices, and it sounded stupid when ebay was repeated all the time ;)
but I hope you like it, and I tried to write most of the purchasing information ^^

  • What Should I Consider When Getting a Pedicure?

Posted on February 28th, 2010 admin 2 comments

A pedicure is a way to improve the appearance of the feet, and their nails. It basically is a manicure for the feet. The word pedicure comes form the Latin words pes, which means foot, and cura, which means care. It also means the care of the feet and toenails. A pedicure can be helpful because it can prevent nail diseases and nail disorders.

Some women hide their feet in sneakers, loafers or sandals that cover most of the foot. Others show their feet in thongs or skinny sandals. Those who show their feet, and occasionally those who don’t, may want to get a pedicure. A pedicure is a manicure for the feet.

A pedicure will usually take about 30 minutes, depending on the services offered. A basic pedicure will include a foot soak, having the toenails trimmed and shaped, having the cuticles trimmed and the calluses pumiced, and finally having the toenails painted. Some salons offer extra services such as foot massage, hot paraffin baths and even salt or kelp wraps. The whole idea is to make the feet look as attractive as possible.

A woman considering a pedicure will probably want to see if the salon she regularly goes to offers the service and how much it costs, along with what services are included. If pedicures are not offered at her regular salon, she can often look in the yellow pages to see what salons in her area do offer them.

Tips to getting a Safe Pedicure

    • Ask the manager how often the footbaths are cleaned. The footbaths should be cleaned at least once a day. The bacteria is usually present in the filter. The filter should be removed of debris.

    • Ask the manager how the footbaths are cleaned. The footbaths should be cleaned with a bleach solution for 15 minutes.

    • Don’t shave your legs 24 hours before your pedicure. A shave can create tiny nicks that allow the bacteria to enter your skin.

    • Make sure the salon sterilizes metal equipment between appointments. Some salons will allow you to bring your own metal equipment.

    • Make sure the salon has posted a current license from the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, as well as the Board’s Health and Safety poster.

    • Make sure your pedicurist has posted their license.

    • Trim only your toenails. Do not let your pedicurist cut your cuticles. Cut cuticles provide an opening to bacteria.

    • If the footbath basin looks dirty, ask your pedicurist to wash and disinfect the footbath and the metal equipment.

Pedicure prices vary depending on the salon and the services. A basic pedicure will usually be about INR 900, and prices increase from there. One option for a less expensive pedicure may be to go to a cosmetology school which offers beauty services to the public. A woman would probably receive a pedicure from a senior student, and the price might be as low as INR 225-450. Since a pedicure is much more difficult to mess up than a haircut, a woman can probably get a pedicure at a cosmetology school with confidence.

One other point to consider is what to wear for a pedicure. Short skirts or short-shorts could be problematic, since the pedicurist may elevate the legs to do the work. Pants that are easily rolled up are probably the best option. Also, the pedicurist should receive a tip, usually about 10-20 percent of the fee depending on the services rendered. For especially good service or extended services, the tip should be about 30 percent.

  • Fungal Nails – Podiatrist in Passaic, NJ

Fungal Nails – Podiatrist in Passaic, NJ

Fungal nails refers to any number of fungal nail infections that can occur on the foot. Since fungal nails are usually more resistant and more difficult to treat than Athlete's Foot, topical or oral antifungal medications may be prescribed. Note: Please consult a physician before taking any medications. Permanent nail removal is another possible form of treatment for tenacious fungal nails.

    Preventing Fungal Nail Infections
After a fungal nail infection has cleared up, take steps to prevent the infection from recurring. Keeping fungi at bay will help prevent a fungal infection of the skin from reinfecting the nail. Before bed, thoroughly wash and dry your feet, and apply a nonprescription antifungalantifungal cream to the entire foot from the ankle down. Use the cream every night, then gradually apply it less often. Keep your feet dry. Dry feet are less likely to become infected. Apply powder to your dry feet after you take a shower or bath.

Other suggestions for preventing fungal nails include:
Don't share nail clippers or nail files with others.
Don't share shoes or socks with others.
Try not to injure your nail, such as by cutting it too short (trauma to the nail may lead to infections).
Wear dry cotton socks and change them two or three times a day if necessary.
Wear dry shoes that allow air to circulate around your feet (tight, enclosed, moist shoes contribute to fungal toenail infections).
Wear shower sandals or shower shoes when you are at a public pool or shower.
    Prevention
Follow basic foot care guidelines and, more than likely, you can head off most common foot fungus problems.

  • Everything You Need to Know About Floor Sanding

Posted on February 26th, 2010 admin 7 comments

A home with wooden floors is always welcoming and cozy. The right wooden floors can make your home look exceptional, but you will need to look after these floors properly to ensure that they are in their best condition. Keeping your wooden floors polished and clean will go a long way in maintaining their beauty, and sealing your wooden floors is almost a necessity.

A good way to keep your wooden floors well maintained, or to restore wooden floors that are going into shambles, is to sand them down and then seal them with a good varnish that can be polished regularly. We will take a look at the measures you will need to take to sand your floors successfully.

    Preparation:

Firstly you need to remove all the furniture from the room, or area that you are going to be sanding. Most floor sanding tools feature an efficient dust pick-up, but it is most likely that some dust will escape during the course of your sanding. In order to ensure good ventilation you must ensure that all the windows are open.

All tacks, staples and other unwanted fixings must be removed from the floor. Failure to do so will result in damage to the abrasive paper and sanding drum of your floor sander.  If there are any nails protruding, they must be punched below the surface of the floor using a suitable nail punch and hammer. Any screws used to fix the floor boards should be counter sunk below the surface.

Any loose boards or block must firmly fixed into place, and any heavy wax, grease or dirt deposits on the floor must be removed by hand. After doing this the floor must be vacuumed and swept thoroughly to remove any dirt and discarded fixings.

    Operation of Your Sanding Machine:

Floor sanders are powerful machines. Always ensure that you have a firm grip before you switch it on. To prevent damage to the floor surface, always ensure that the sander is moving when in operation and that the sanding drum is in contact with the floor. Never lift the back of the machine whilst sanding and never apply pressure to try and increase the rate of sanding. It is important to be patient and to guide the sander gently, never dwelling in one place but moving steadily at all times. Care must be taken to prevent the cable from coming into contact with the sanding drum. Another extremely important operating procedure is to never move backwards whilst sanding; only sand in a forward motion!

Important Notes on Sanding Parquet and Block Floors:

The grain of the wood will run in a number of directions, therefore the floor must be sanded in the direction of the main source of natural light in the room. If there is no source of natural light, sand in the direction of the longest side of the room. If the room is square, sand in the direction that the furniture is laid out. This technique will help mask any imperfections in the floor.

It’s easier to do it on someone else ;D
I know you need a good amount of patience to do it, but the result is really pretty and cute (I think)
if you have a wish for any special brand feel free to request. I’ll def. be doing the ones like coach, chanel, D&G, and I’ll also see if I can come up with something for Tommy Hilfiger ^^ I might also do Ed Hardy, but that’s probably going to be even more timeconsuming than this one :)
