  • How do you paint your nails without painting your finger as well?I don’t want to go to a beauty salon…?

Posted on November 25th, 2009 admin 10 comments

I was always wondering how do people paint their nails without "painting anything else".For me it never worked out,but I don’t want to go to a beauty salon to get the job done.Is there any way to learn how to color your nails well at home?

LOL This is a great question! I am always painting my finger along with my fingernails as well, and I feel like such a loser. Surely if other women can do it correctly, why am I making such a mess of my finger nails?

I rarely ever bother with painting my finger nails, though, so I think my mistakes are due to two reasons:

First, even when I wanted to do it, I would rush through it, because I kind of felt like I was wasting my time. This is not something you can rush through, though. If you’re going to do it, take the time to do it as accurately as possible. So set aside more time for painting your nails.. not just for the actual painting of your nails, but for letting them dry too.

Secondly, I believe it takes practice, as with anything else.

In the meanwhile, keep a wet papertowel (or something similar) handy so that when you mess up, you can wipe it off rightaway.

Come to think of it, maybe those women who have perfectly painted nails have had to wipe off mistakes too, and you would never know it. :-)

  • A Bridge To A Relaxing Backyard

Posted on November 24th, 2009 admin No comments

A bridge is a great addition to your backyard, if there is room enough for one. This will give your backyard a special touch that will add visual beauty and interest to your backyard. If you have room in your backyard, there are a great deal of decorating schemes that will enable you to add a bridge into the lawn and it may even be easier than you think!

    Bridge and Pond Landscaping
Installing a backyard pond will instantly create a place where you can relax and enjoy life. If you build the pond close to your patio deck, you can add a bridge to help you cross the pond to the yard or patio. This will add a touch of elegance and beauty to any backyard.

    Do It Yourself or Not?
There are two options that you can consider to have a backyard bridge. You can choose to hire someone to build it and install it or you may find that you can build it yourself. Hiring someone may be costly, but doing it yourself can save you money and can give you a great deal of pride.

    A Footbridge In Your Backyard
If you want to build a pathway to your garden or deck and that crosses a pond, there will be some supplies that you need. The commonly used supplies include nails, lumber, and an active imagination. You will first need to determine what shape bridge that you want and then you can design the length and shape that will help to enhance and work functionally for your particular area.

    Designing Your Pond
When you begin designing your pond area, you can start by marking out the shape of your pond. After you have the shape and area that you desire, you will want to begin digging the pond area. It will be necessary to dig approximately three inches deeper than the depth of your pond. The most common depth is around 20 inches.

    Remove the Debris
Make sure that you get rid of any roots, debris, or other sharp objects that may punch a hole in the liner of the pond. You also need to ensure that the pond hole is level or it could make the pond look uneven when you place water into it.

    The Pond Bottom
Before you install the liner into the bottom of your hole, you need to use sand to line the hole. It serves several purposes, including keeping the liner firmly in place and serving as a protective barrier for your liner. You may need to remove the excess parts of the liner by cutting it to make it easier to place, but be sure that there is enough liner remaining to fill the hole completely, including the edges. Another handy tip is to allow the liner to sit in the sun to warm up before it is used in the hole to make it more pliable and simpler to stretch.

    Finishing Touches
Now that your landscaping is ready for the bridge installation, you need to use some rocks to surround the pond’s edges to help add some interest and visual appeal to your pond and bridge. Securely install the bridge and ensure is in the right place. Now you are on your way to enjoying!

  • The Awe Inspiring City of Cambridge, England

Posted on November 21st, 2009 admin No comments

    Visit Cambridge and Be Inspired

Cambridge is a vibrant city that fuses together history and modern day life. It is a living city that is still continuing to influence history today. If you go to Cambridge you will be inspired by its historical buildings and surprised by the bustling cafe culture and nightlife. It is a city of contrast.

You can imagine medieval monks writing illuminated texts by the light of a flickering candle. Draughty corridors and high vaulted ceilings depicting stories from the Old Testament where echoes of Gregorian chants can still be heard. Cambridge is steeped in scholastic history dating back to the thirteenth century. Today, the unspoiled beauty offers a refreshing change from traffic chocked cities. The gentle whirr of bicycles passing by or the splashes of oars on the river depict a slice of historic England. Many famous names have passed through these colleges from Oliver Cromwell and Isaac Newton to Prince Charles and Stephen Hawking. The course of history was laid down in this most inspirational of places – a must-see in anybody’s books.

    A walk into history…

    Kings College

Established by Henry V1 boasts fine examples of fan vaulted ceilings and Renaissance windows showing pictures of the New Testament. The highlight being awe inspiring painting by Rubens – Adoration of the Magi.

    Queens College

So called because it was founded by two Queens; that of HenryV1 and Edward1V. Look out for the ‘Mathematical Bridge’. This bridge was originally constructed entirely without nails using geometric principles. The story goes that it was deconstructed by an inquisitive person during the Victorian period who was unable to reconstruct it without the use of bolts.

    Trinity College

Sir Christopher Wren built the magnificent library housed within the college. This is home to a collection of many rare books including Isaac Newton’s first edition of Principia Mathematica and an eighth
Century copy of the Epistles of St Paul. The majestic fountain dates to 1602.

    St Mary’s church

Climb to the top of this tower to experience fantastic views of the colleges and market. This is the official university church of St Mary the Great. The chimes mirror those of Big Ben composed in 1793.

    The Round Church

Dating from 1130 this is one example of only four round churches found in Britain. Churches were traditionally built in a cruciform and some believe that round churches were the work of the ‘Templars’. As the church’s name suggests ‘The Church of the Holy Sepulchre’ was probably modelled on the church in Palestine.

    The Fitzwilliam Museum

This is the largest museum in Cambridge and is owned by the university. It houses a spectacular range of Roman, Greek and Egyptian antiquities as well as collections of paintings and objects of art covering key periods in history.

    Cambridge and Country Folk Museum

This museum will appeal to all ages and interests showing how family life has developed over the last six hundred years.

    The Scott Polar Institute

Founded to commemorate the explorer Captain Scott the institute houses relics of the South Pole Expedition through to today’s modern exploration and research.

    The River Cam

Walk along the tow paths or go for a ride in a punt. The river is intrinsically linked with life in Cambridge now and in the past. ‘The Backs’ passes behind the colleges and proves popular for rowing and canoeing.

    Step Back To Today…

    Bars, Cafes and Nightlife

Cambridge has some of the best bars and pubs to unwind kick back and leave the day behind. There are cosy historic pubs, chic bars and sultry clubs. Try the Anchor for a traditional setting and views over the river. If you’re looking entertainment The Boat Race offers live music everyday of the week. If you’re looking for a few cocktails and a dance head down to the very chic HaHa and Coco nightclub. For something a little bit more up tempo try Po Na Na a trendy basement bar that plays club, salsa and house music. If you are looking for something a little bit more quirky you can hire out the Riverboat Georgina for parties and functions. You’ll be sailing down the historic river Cam with drink in hand taking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant city.

    Shopping

Cambridge boasts some of the best shopping in the UK. High street shops stand alongside designer shops, independent boutiques and second hand shops. But what makes shopping special in Cambridge has to be the markets. The market place has been here for centuries. From Monday to Saturday the stall holders sell fresh produce, cut flowers, second-hand books, clothing, soap and souvenirs.

    …Be Inspired

If you are at all interested in history then you will not be disappointed in the awe inspiring city of Cambridge. Walk in the footsteps of some of the greatest thinkers of the modern world.

  • Do you have any beauty tips at all ? hair makeup skin nails food etc.?

Posted on November 21st, 2009 admin 4 comments

I was wondering if any of you knew any beauty tips. Like anything like , hair , make up , skin , nails food or just like anything anything anything at all ! even for guys .. faaanks

Dye lashes rather than use mascara, it’s semi-permanent so doesn’t smudge, and can be used on bottom lashes too. Use heated eyelash curlers to give a better curl, then put a little oil on them to condition and make them stand out – try sweet almond oil (also great as make up remover), coconut oil (relieves tired eyes) or olive oil (moisturising).

Avoid washes or soaps on your face as these strip away skins oils leaving it dehydrated, this makes skin overproduce oil causing greasy skin, clogged pores and spots, instead use Oil Cleansing Method (OCM). OCM keeps skin very healthy, moisturised, glowing and is the best way to prevent oily skin and spots – http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com

Shampoo strips natural oils from hair so it becomes dry/damaged, it also causes your scalp to overcompensate, producing more oils so hair gets greasy. There’s loads of other ways to wash hair, I recommend conditioner-only, use just conditioner as it contains mild surfactants so cleans without stripping your hair of oils, totally amazing results – hair will be healthier, stronger, shiny, easier to manage, grows faster, frizz-free and won’t get greasy – http://www.wikihow.com/Follow-the-Curly-Girl-Method-for-Curly-Hair

Learn to read ingredients on toiletries, this means you can avoid ingredients harmful to your skin and hair, and you can find what products have the highest amont of active ingredient so you get the best product for your money. You can search for ingredients or specific brands on the cosmetics database – http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com

Check out sites like Make Your Own Cosmetics http://www.makeyourcosmetics.com and Pioneer Thinking http://www.pioneerthinking.com full of simple recipes you can make at home and useful information, their face masks are especially handy.

Before washing your hair massage your scalp, this stimulates your scalp keeping hair healthy and improves growth, use rosemarry to stimulate growth in olive oil that will condition your hair.

Sleep on silk or satin pillows, it improves hairs shine by smoothing hair rather than snagging it as you move in your sleep, it also means fewer pillow lines on your face.

For puffy eyes keep two teaspoons in the freezer and pop them onto eyes in the morning, another trick is using witch hazel gel or hemorrhoidoid cream (common model tip) to reduce puffinessess.

Always carry lip balm to prevent lips cracking, if you get cracked lips use a little olive oil on them and then rub gentleley with a wet cloth, also use oil overnight as conditioner. Rather than lipstick try using red food colouring as a lip tint for long-lasting colour.

Use tinted moisturiser rather than foundation, it’s better for your skin and looks natural, then use mineral powder foundation to set which looks natural, is really healthy and gives the best coverage.

Use hair conditioner to shave, soap up first then add hair conditioner to the foam, it makes something like shaving foam only gives smoother shave and conditions your skin, so no rash – as long as it’s thick just use cheap conditioner.

Use Odaban which is antiperspirantant that stops you from sweating wherever it’s used, it actually works, so this means no nasty ugly sweat stains or smelling bad.

Buy vitamin E capsules, take daily to help improve skin and hair, you don’t need those overpriced hair & nail vitamins. You can also add vitamin E to your lotions etc.

Don’t smoke, it ages you and causes all sorts of other skin problems – if you do smoke the best method to quit is Easyway.

Use olive oil as a moisturiser for your body, it’s far more effective than body lotion or baby oil, leaves your skin glowing and is known to help prevent ageing, plus add a little scented oil and you’ll smell lovely all day. Another oil you can use is Bio oil for face and body, it absorbs into skin and great for keeping skin healthy and healing scars, but it’s expensive, cheaper versions like Rescue Oil work just as well and as they’re far cheaper you can use it daily.

Never use vasaline on your skin or hair – it’s a mineral oil, a byproduct of crude oil production, it’s basically waste material that they package to sell on. All it does is sit on the surface of your skin, collecting dirt and bacteria, clogging up pores and on hair adding to damage that eventually leads to breakage.
